Family

What a wonderful weekend. Spent time in the yard, cleaning out the flower beds and sprucing up the front porch. It ended with a Sunday evening with Tom, Gina, Joe, Sharon and Hannah. I was holding Hannah and remembering holding Tom and Joe. Time goes too quickly but as a young mom it sometimes felt like it stood still. I dug up this picture of Joe as I can see him in Hannah. Hard to believe that it was taken 28 years ago!

Another blog

My co-workers and I got together today to learn about creating blogs and we are going to be writing a blog, each taking turns contributing postings to it. Not much yet but we hope to share some great info for families. You can see it here.

Waiting on the roses

The weather is warming and I am waiting to see the clematis and roses back again. This is how they looked near the patio last year.

Conferences

I spent the past two days at our state FCS conference. Some of the workshops were fun. There was a great presenter on table linens- showed ways to fold and drape table cloths. She was an excellent speaker as well. A food stylist showed some of her work and shared some of her behind the scenes tricks to get food to look so great in pictures. She had the most realistic ice cream that is not ice cream- crisco, corn syrup and confectioner's sugar. It scoops to look just like icecream but doesn't melt for a photo shoot. I think it would be a great April Fools joke! A chef from a local produce company made 2 great salads-one with grilled portabellas, grilled asparagus, feta and tomatoes with a Greek vinagrette. Yummy!!!! He also made a salad with aragula, watermelon, feta and a vinagrette with lime juice. Also good. Another chef gave us some insights into doing food demos. He also had some yummy desserts to sample. The breakfast keynote today was an image consultant and started the day off in a fun way. All in all, 2 good days but missed some great get out in the garden time!

Welcome Hannah!

Hannah visited us for the first time today! Grandpa did a great job of calming her down. Quite a sacrifice as the Yankee game was on!

Make Way for Spring!

I could not believe Mr. Snowman was still at the front door. Since he wasn't melting he had to be forcibly removed and replaced with a painting I did today.

Spring

We thought we might spend the weekend at Longwood Gardens but a bit too dreary after all. I'm not complaining, I love an afternoon of nesting. Simple things like strawberries make it even sweeter. Still from California..can't wait to eat local berries.

I am puttering around getting rid of dust bunnies but these bunnies will stick around. I love to collect rabbits but sometimes too much of a good thing is well, too much, but these guys won't be packed away with the other Easter fellas.

Ben has been visiting us. He seems to think he needs to herd the vacuum cleaner. When he realized that I would vacuum despite his herding, he gave up and now doesn't even notice when I turn the vacuum on. Guess you can teach an old dog new tricks!

Dreaming of a walk with my gramma...

We have bulbs peeking up here and there- a promise that Spring is around the corner. I can't wait to take this baby out for a stroll!
